Our History 

BBY Sports NFP is a 501(C)(3) organization formed for charitable and educational purposes. We became chartered by the State of Illinois as not for profit on December 29, 2004 and obtained 501(C)(3) status August 16, 2005 . We are current and/or retired sport officials, committed to the recruitment and training of persons interested in becoming licensed sport officials  We have been qualified by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and do appear as an approved Association on their website (http://www.ihsa.org/official/orgs.htm).
 
Our Mission

This organization’s mission is dedicated  to the recruitment, education, training and development of  new sport officials. Our focus is on the critical shortage of elementary and high school sport officials throughout the State of Illinois in general and within the Chicagoland area in particular.
  
Sports officials are in short supply in many states. The rules for high school sports are covered nationally by the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) which means there is little variance in the fundamental rules from state to state, making a license to officiate quite portable.  Several states have a reciprocity agreement which will allow sport officials to officiate in another state based on credentials and ratings earned in their home state.
 
BBY Sports NFP recognizes the tremendous talent potential that exists when recruiting new officials.  Therefore,  we empower and challenge these recruits not only by teaching them the basics of sport officiating but also by  teaching them to seize control of their socio-economic condition by way of being independent contractors licensed to solicit contracts to work amateur sporting events. We firmly believe there is a rich pool of untapped talent from which to draw new candidates to become sport officials. This pool consists of high school students and athletes who are at least seventeen (17) years old; college students in need of avenues to supplement their financial needs; unemployed and under employed adults striving to enhance their economic position.

Our Instructors

Our instructors are Certified Officials with the IHSA and have worked varying levels of the IHSA State Tournament.
